Learning Centers – Program Components

• The learning center program of the educational center “Touching the Horizon” is comprised of three stages: high school, military, and entering adulthood. During the program’s 7 years, we will focus on the following components in accordance to the different needs of each phase.

• Educational reinforcement – bringing the program’s teens to significant educational success through a defined target based on an intensive and challenging educational program. The working method will be based on accelerated studies of one or two subjects per semester in order for the teens to be prepared to take the matriculation exams in those subjects.

• Emotional-social empowerment - the ultimate goal of the “Touching the Horizon” program is the successful incorporation of the program participants into the community, by transforming them into contributing and active citizens of the Israeli society. In order to achieve this goal, the offered program is perennial (approximately seven years), and accompanies its participants starting in the first matriculation year (10th grade) until military discharge and entering civilian life.

For detailed information about the empowerment program:

• Evaluation and surveillance program – throughout the entire program we will examine and perform general evaluations of improving/changing the various aspects of the students’ functioning: scholastic achievements, their ability to adapt and fit into the system, and their general everyday functioning.

• Nutrition – hot lunch.

• Parents workshop – during the program, the parents will be taught skills in order to empower the child as well as abilities that will help them handle various everyday life situations.
