'Blue and white' bicycle campaign for impoverished children

Painting the city of Tel Aviv in blue and white – sponsored bicycle ride in aid of impoverished children

In the run-up to Pesach, as a humanitarian, exciting and unique gesture, the members of the bicycle riding website "Groopy" got together for an event in aid of impoverished and needy children in Israel.

As part of the intensive activities of Pitchon Lev before Pesach to increase the public awareness of the poverty situation in Israel (which includes 800,000 children) the "Groovy" bicycle riders held a cycling marathon around Tel Aviv, led by Shahar Raz - the star of the Israeli reality television program "Survivor".

On Tuesday 15th April at 8 p.m., hundreds of cyclists came together and opened their hearts in aid of a worthy cause in aid of needy children. The event commenced at the Tel Aviv Port where they adorned on Pitchon Lev t-shirts and equipped themselves with blue and white balloons.

The star of the Israeli version of the television program "Survivor" – Shahar Raz (who also participated in the Pesach food distribution marathon and in the Radio Jerusalem broadcast for Pitchon Lev), lead the campaign.

The cyclists started the trip at the Tel Aviv Port, cycling southwards in the direction of Jaffa port and continued in the direction of the picturesque Neveh Zedek neighborhood, cycling around the city center before finishing at Rabin Square, where hundreds of balloons were released as a sign of solidarity with the needy and impoverished children in the hope that they will benefit from a better future.

Our sincere thanks to Shahar Raz to the lengths which she went to as well as to the Groopy cyclists who opened their hearts by participating in the event and dedicating their time to such a worthy cause.

Due to the success of the event and at the cyclists' request, the cycling event will become an annual traditional Pitchon Lev event. See you next year!
