Love at a time of war

On January 7, 2009, "Pitchon Lev" food units departed from the Rishon Le-Zion Aid Center to the southern town of Sderot.

The first stop for aid distribution was "The home for the Elderly" in the Ramat Eshcol neighborhood, where they met the town's Assistant Mayor, Mr. Michael Amsalem, who came to bless this initiative and praiseworthy gesture. Many thankful citizens gathered around the devoted volunteers who presented them with food baskets.
Upon visiting the city's bomb shelters, the volunteers encountered real distress, the lack of food and the resident's desperation. "Pitchon Lev" volunteers were accompanied by "Pitchon Lev" CEO, Mr. Nissim Tzioni, and local governing Council Chairman, Mr. Doron Shelly, who distributed foodstuff, diapers and babies food directly to the inhabitants of the shelters.

At their next stop, the volunteers distributed sweets parcels prepared by school pupils to the  soldiers and army reservists serving in the area.
"Pitchon Lev" CEO, Mr. Nissim Tzioni, decided to dispatch another emergency aid unit in the coming days after encountering  the distress of the town's residents and as an answer to the  pleadings of the local welfare center, non-profit organizations acting in the area and the soup kitchens in Sderot.
